EU probes maker of Toblerone and Milka for anticompetitive behavior

The European Commission informed Mondelez that it has initiated an investigation that covers potential anticompetitive agreements and possible abuse of dominant position.

“The Commission has concerns that Mondelez may have restricted cross border sales of its products in the EU’s single market,” a spokesperson for the Commission said.

The EC has already fined giants like Nike & AB-Inbev on 2019 for engaging in similar practices.

Some insights:

1. Food giants are no longer able to set the rules as they wish and that will effect their results.

2. The EC is enforcing EU’s regulations, and it can finance it with fines as the ones mentioned above.
